Places of Calm

As cliché as it sounds, nature really is one of the best healers. Research shows that even two hours a week outdoors can give your mental health a huge boost. Luckily, in Malta beautiful places are accessible within minutes. Not sure where to go? We’re sharing some of our favourite places of calm below.

Walk & Talk

‘Walk and Talk’ is an initiative which combines nature, mental health and emotional support. The monthly event takes place at different locations, and the aim is to offer a calm environment in nature where one can open up about their mental health. The initiative is supported by Richmond, Birdlife and Mental Health Association Malta. Follow Walk and Talk on Facebook to find out where and when the next event is taking place.

Buskett Woodlands

Il-Buskett, l/o Rabat/Siggiewi.

Buskett offers lovely walking treks and is steeped with heritage since its gardens were originally planted by the Knights of Malta as hunting grounds.

Nestled in Malta’s only woodland area, Buskett is undoubtedly Malta’s gem of the West .While you certainly won’t spot any wild boar in sight, you will be treated to one of the greenest areas in Malta, rife with shrubs and delightful fruit trees.

Ġnien l-Għarusa tal-Mosta

Triq Misraħ Għonoq, Mosta.

A small public garden situated at the outskirts of Mosta. While not possessing the grandeur and multitudes of trees, plants and flowers that other much larger gardens have, this serene little garden makes a pleasant change to the hustle and bustle of Mosta’s town centre.

Majjistral Park

The Park includes elements of natural and cultural interest and is, thereby, a valuable tourism product. Within this area it is possible to find both areas of rural and military heritage, unique habitats for flora, natural caves and outstanding coastal cliffs.

Għadira Nature Reserve

Triq il-Marfa, Il-Mellieħa, MLĦ 9064

Located in the north of Malta,  Għadira Nature Reserve is on the outskirts of Mellieħa, this seven hectare reserve comprises of brackish lake and saltmarsh habitat. Due to our dry climate in Malta, permanent areas of inland water are rare, making the Għadira wetlands are an extremely important habitat for birds and other wildlife.
